The Art of Mindfulness

1 min

You must have heard the word ‘Mindfulness’ a million times by now.

It’s everywhere.

Media, Instagram, twitter, Yoga, YouTube, and a zillion other places.

Some say it’s about being present.

Some say it’s about watching your breath

Some say it’s about being one with the universe.

And like every popular cultural thing, mindfulness too, instead of clarity, has become a subject of confusion.

Today, let’s get rid of all your confusion.

Today, let’s shine some light on this miraculous practice and how you can use it to experience life more fully.

Before I reveal to you what mindfulness is, let’s do an experiment.

Close your eyes, take a long deep breath through your nose and through your mouth exhale very slowly.

Now simply look at your phone. Take off the cover gently.

  • Look at its screen.
  • Look at its clear pixels.
  • Look at its edges and beautiful contours.
  • Look at its smooth back.
  • Feel the metal or plastic.
  • Look at the beautiful camera holes.

Don’t think, just look.

I’m sure you haven’t looked at it like this in ages.

You’ll realize what a magnificent piece of technology you’re holding.

We take it for granted, because it has lost its luster.

We overuse it. It has lost its magic.

But the truth is, it’s not the phone, it’s you who has lost the magic.

That magic is MINDFULNESS.

Observing without judgment is mindfulness.

Not taking things for granted is mindfulness.

Finding beauty in ordinary things is mindfulness.

Letting even the little things give you joy is mindfulness.

To put it simply, mindfulness is a state of no-mind.

You look, but you don’t see. Because your mind is full of information, ideas, and beliefs.

But when you’re mindful, your perceptions fade away and you start to see things as they are.

You don’t see people, you see souls.

You don’t see their anger, you see their suffering.

You don’t see wrinkles, you see wisdom.

You don’t see failures, you see courage.

You become more sensitive, more connected, more insightful.

And if you want to know how to be mindful.

Pause, breathe, and simply look.

You know it.

You were born with it.

You just have to re-discover it.
