Thoughts, thoughts, thoughts.
They never stop, do they?
However long you meditate, however hard you try, they just don’t ever stop.
They make you do things that you don’t want to do.
You want to take up new habits.
You want to exercise every day.
You want to start your new business.
You want to improve yourself.
You want to control negative thinking.
But you just can’t control your mind.
My friend, if you can relate to any of the above statements and want to have total control over your mind, this will be the most important message you will ever read.
Now before I reveal to you the most powerful way to control your mind, let me ask you a question,
What is mind?
Have you ever thought about it?
It is something that thinks?
Is it something that imagines?
Is it something that controls your whole life?
What is it?
To tell you the truth, it’s impossible to know. Because any definition about the mind is also a part of the mind. It’s like a dog chasing its own tail.
Don’t get yourself stuck in this never ending spiral.
If you want to control your mind, what’s more important is to understand the nature of the mind.
And when you understand the real nature of your mind, controlling it becomes easy.
Let me explain how.
Mind is “wanting”
Thinking and wanting are the same.
You only think when you want something.
Love, money, food, sex, self-improvement, happiness, stress relief, peace. It could be anything.
And whenever you want something or think about something, the mind starts chasing it.
And the mind won’t stop until you get it or stop wanting it.
And the most powerful way to control your mind is to learn how to stop wanting it.
Now this is where it gets really interesting.
How can you stop wanting something?
The mind is the controller of the five senses.
Sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.
Imagine these as 5 doors through which your mind perceives the world.
And anything and everything that your mind wants can only come in through these 5 doors.
And the things that come in from these 5 senses are what your mind craves for.
These things act as triggers and force the mind to act on them.
For example,
– Seeing a woman in a tight dress may trigger thoughts of sex, and these thoughts lead to watching porn & masturbation.
– Looking at pictures of delicious food on your Instagram feed may trigger thoughts of hunger and lead to eating junk food & overeating.
– Smelling cigarette smoke or seeing someone you admire smoke on screen may trigger a nicotine craving and force you to light up.
And there are millions of other things that you bring in through these 5 doors consciously, and sometimes unconsciously.
How can you stop this?
Guard the 5 doors
You have to be aware.
You have to be vigilant.
You have to be on high alert at all times.
Whenever the mind slips out of any door, you have to bring it back inside.
It’s impossible to take any action before thinking about it first.
The action begins in the mind.
And this is your chance to stop it. This is where things are still under your control.
The mind will imagine it first.
– Seeing and imagining.
– Smelling and imagining.
– Hearing and imagining.
– Tasting and imagining.
– Touching and imagining.
Whenever and wherever the mind gets a chance, it will slip away, imagine it and force you to act on it.
But if you catch it in the act of imagining by being aware & vigilant, you can stop yourself from reaching the point of action.
And hence saving yourself from feelings of guilt, regret, negativity, and self-loathing.
And the more you practice coming back, The more you practice dragging the mind back from imagining inappropriate things, the easier it will get to control your mind.
And trust me, after you have done it for a few weeks, it will become your default state.
It will start feeling effortless.
And finally, here’s the most powerful way to control your mind
The mind wants to chase something.
Read it again.
The mind always, everyday, in every moment, wants to chase something.
Give it something worthy to chase.
Give it something to chase that is permanent.
Give it something to chase that leads to peace, wealth, wisdom, and happiness.
Its nature is to chase, and it will chase whatever you give it to chase.
You look at naked pictures, imagine sex, it will chase sex & porn.
You read books and imagine wisdom, it will chase wealth and success.
Energy flows where attention goes. Wherever your attention is focused, your mind will start chasing it.
And that, my friend, is the secret of the mind.
Keep your mind pure.
Focus it on yourself.
Focus it on finding meaning.
Focus it on finding inner peace.
And finally focus it on realizing God.
This human body is a gift. And you got only one life. This life.
Please don’t abuse it, use it.
And you’re running out of time.
Use your intelligence to tell your mind where to go and where not to go.
And in your heart, you know what is right for you.
